I wish to build a storage box on a trailer for carrying camping gear. Here in the southwest hot and dry conditions can be expected, but eventually exposure to rainy weather must be anticipated. What grade of plywood is recommended? Also, what wood is most appropriate for the surface ply with regard to easy but durable staining and an oil finish (since this can be easily renewed while in the wild) given our intense sun shine?

I need to replace the motor pulley on the subject drill press and unfortunately all parts are listed as obsolete. The outside diameter of the spindle pulleys are as follows; 8.5, 8, 7, 5.75, 4.75. What size is the comparable motor pulley? The original pulley was replaced a few years ago with a poor matching aftermarket and I can only use the belt on one speed. Is there a formula that I can use to define the most compatable pulley and where can I buy it at? Thanks Larry

I've had two Bostik Pop rivet tools go bad with in a two year period. The tool will pop off the rivet, but the top part of the rivet will not release from the clamping unit.....no matter what I do to try and extract it....including clamping the end part in my bench vise. Have any of you ever experienced the same problems. I need to buy another tool, but not a Bostik brand.

"I have a 1895 Antique Walnut staircase with banister forsale still in the house. Where would be the best place to advertise it?" Be careful what you call walnut. Many Stair bannisters were mafe of chestnut which closely resembles walnut in color and density. However having worked with both I thought the chestnut softer than the walnut. Chestnut was used extensively after the chestnut blight and mush of it was milled into mouldings @ bannisters

With the Canadian dollar now at a premium (about 3.5%) with respect to the US dollar, how can you possibly justify charging Canadians $41Can for the same 2 yr term as you charge Americans $28US. I realize distribution costs are somewhat greater but that cannot possible account for a surcharge of 51.5%!!! (41 by 28 x 1.035) Will you permit me to pay the US rate in US funds...yours is a fine magazine but that. surcharge is most insulting and without ratiionale. Ms. Albert, The short answer is: use a paint remover, scrape it, or sand it. But to really give you a proper answer, please bring the train to the Club located at 3228 Sacramento. Hours of operation are 8 am - 12 noon Tues thru Sat and 5:30 - 9 pm Mon and Wed evening. After seeing what you did, type paint used, etc., we can better advise you on the removal of the paint. The Club has awarded grants from its Scholar Ship Fund to HS grads--the scholarship fund is no longer maintained. The Club has build cabinets and shelving for several other non-profit organization, such as the Child Crisis Center, Scouts, senior centers, Ft Bliss, local museums, as well as some handicapped ramps for individuals in need. Please post your email address and I can provide you more detailed information if desired. Paul, Editor, Club Newsletter
